Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website.

Be who you want to be today, don’t put off living life! I aim to help my patients make the most out of life now. I am dedicated to helping others reach their full potential. My approach is to understand the deeper layers and help with concrete changes through evidenced-based methods. I work from a developmental and holistic framework to meet your unique needs. I integrate mental, physical, and socio-environmental factors into therapy.

I have specialized expertise in Anxiety Disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, phobias), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Psychotic-Spectrum Disorders (e.g., schizophrenia) and Insomnia. I offer specialty assessments and scientifically-based treatment modalities for these conditions. For children, I offer evidence-based play therapy (yes, I have therapy games we use on telehealth!). I also offer Outdoor Therapy (see Ecotherapy section for more details).

A little bit about me, I have been working in the mental health field for approximately 17 years. I have worked with a variety of ages from young kids to the elderly. I am a mother, wife, dog mom, reptile mom, avid runner, and psychologist. My work and being a mom taught me how important it is to recognize the developmental stage we are at in life. The older I get; the quicker life is going, and I believe we should optimize each day.

I offer Emotional Support Animal (ESA) assessments. I also offer a unique wellness consultation, called the PAWsitive life evaluation. Companion animals offer many health benefits to humans. I have conducted research in this area, and I am a big animal lover. I have extensive personal and professional experience with animals. As a child, I memorized the dog breed encyclopedia. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. For my postdoctoral research dissemination project at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center, I investigated the social and wellbeing impact of animal exposure and interaction with our US veterans. Frequently Asked Questions image

(1) What are some indications that I should seek mental health treatment?
Great question! If you are struggling in any sort of functional capacity, such as you are struggling at work and/or school, your family responsibilities, daily demands (e.g., chores and hygiene), and/or in relationships because of what seems like mental health symptoms this is an indication seeking help is probably recommended at this time.

(2) What can patients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I am direct and action-oriented, yet still warm to actively and collaboratively address the things bringing you in to therapy. I begin with a thorough psychosocial and diagnostic assessment with the aim to have a solid treatment plan by the end of session #3. I generally assign homework and/or activities to practice outside of therapy. About every 5th session, we'll reflect and see what is working and what is not. For some patients, what brings them only takes a few sessions, whereas for others it can be awhile. I meet my patients where they are at in life. I offer 2x/weekly, weekly to monthly sessions depending on your needs and availability.

(3) What areas do you feel are your biggest strengths as a therapist?
My biggest strengths are being authentic and active in helping patients reach their goals. I have extensive experiences in evidenced-based treatments. I take a concrete, applied approach to helping you make real-life changes.
